Choosing a male or female puppy: which is better?

Many people believe that female dogs make better pets than males and are easier to train. This is not always the case. Each gender has their own strengths and weaknesses. Most certified dog trainers will agree that the most important influence on personality and compatibility with humans is not being a male or female, but how a dog is trained and what it is exposed to. Here are a few pros and cons of each.

Key Points of a Female Dog:

-
Mature quicker than males
-
Can be easier to train due to ability to focus
-
More prone to mood swings
-
Can have messy cycles if not spayed
-
Tend to be more independent, stubborn, and territorial than their male counterparts.
-
Usually do well with kids due to their motherly nature

Key points of a Male Dog:

-
Less moody than females and less prone to emotional swings
-
No heat cycles
-
May exhibit marking their territory and humping if not trained properly (neutering can lower chances of this happening)
-
Can be territorial around other males and more prone to roaming outdoors if finding a female in heat
-
Much more loving and affectionate than females, and are very attached to their people
-
Most males are easily motivated by food and praise, a lot like their human counterparts!
Ultimately, it's best not to pick your puppy solely based on gender! Choose a puppy whose personality will most fit your lifestyle. Both male and female can make wonderful pets.

What is your visitation policy?

Country Acres Farm is a small, privately owned, family breeding program. Please understand that this our home and we have young children. We are not able to accommodate the numerous requests for home visits or allow unplanned visits. We have not only the safety of our animals, but the safety of our children to take into consideration. There are also many illnesses such as parvo-virus and other viruses that can easily be brought onto the property and put our dogs at risk. Because of this, we do not allow home visits at this time.
What we can offer is weekly photos and videos, and we will gladly face-time you to meet the puppies to see their personalities! If you would like to meet a certain puppy in person before committing, we can meet you at a public location near our home. For the safety of our pups, we ask that you do not visit any dog parks, public places, or be around unvaccinated dogs before this visit. Thank you for being understanding!! We want to make this an exciting and memorable process for you and your family!!

How do I reserve a puppy?
In order to reserve a puppy, we require a $200 reservation fee. This is applied to the total price of the puppy. The reservation fee is to show us that you are serious about purchasing one of our puppies, and also to hold your spot in line! Remember-the reservation fee is non-refundable, however, it is transferable up to one year if something comes up and you decide to wait on a puppy from an upcoming litter. If for some reason there is no litter or something happens on our end, we will gladly refund you the deposit back.
To be fair, we do puppy picks in the order that deposits were received. For example, if you were the first person to place your deposit on a certain litter, then you will get first pick of the litter. The second to place a deposit will get second pick, etc. We take deposit fees through Cashapp, Venmo, paypal, or Zelle. The remaining balance should be paid on the day of pick-up, and we accept cash only at that time.
